Ode makes major push into the US market
Ode, the world's largest producer of farmed Atlantic cod, is making a major strategic push into the Americas. Brings on board one of the American seafood industry's most experienced names.

Ode is pleased to announce the appointment of Marcy Bemiller as Commercial Director of Ode Americas. Marcy will oversee regional commercial strategy, leveraging over three decades of experience in seafood management, logistics, sales, marketing and international trade.
Marcy joins Ode following a successful tenure as the founder of Candor Consulting LLC and Candor Seafood. Since 2016, she has provided expert consultancy and comprehensive marketing, sales, and logistics solutions for global seafood clients, managing the full value chain.
Her leadership experience includes serving as President of the US division of Sano Seafoods and as the Director of Foodservice and National Accounts for Marine Harvest (MOWI), where she developed a deep expertise in the Chilean seafood industry. Marcy’s career is rooted in a diverse foundation of both aquaculture and wild fisheries; she began her journey in Mississippi’s catfish industry before moving to Trident Seafoods. She often credits her time at Trident—selling wild Alaskan seafood—as providing a foundational "real-world" education that far exceeded her four years at Kent State University.
Beyond her corporate roles, Marcy is a dedicated advocate for the seafood industry. She serves on the Board of Directors for the National Fisheries Institute (NFI), where she has been an active committee member for many years. She is also a co-founder of the Sea Sirens, a professional network of over 85 women spanning every sector of the industry—from C-suite executives and QA specialists, buyers and marketing professionals—focused on mentorship and leadership growth.
"Over the years, I’ve had many opportunities to move from a consulting role to a permanent position with a client, and Ode is exactly what I have been looking for in a company and a producer. They go far beyond the industry 'buzzwords' of sustainability and traceability; it is the genuine vision, the commitment to product quality, and the passion that starts with the leadership and trickles down through the entire organization that truly hooked me. Having consulted for the team since the beginning, I already feel like part of the family, and I look forward to a seamless transition into this new chapter and getting the Ode Cod on the menu at home and at your favorite restaurant from Canada to Chile."
The appointment comes as Ode continues its international growth strategy, where the US — with a broader market launch planned for this fall
— is a market of particular importance. For founder and CEO Ola Kvalheim, securing Bemiller was a decisive piece of that plan.
"The Americas represent the single biggest growth opportunity for farmed cod, and we are entering with full force. To do that, you need someone who has actually built seafood brands and sales organizations in that market — not once, but throughout an entire career. Marcy is exactly that person," says Ola Kvalheim, CEO and founder of Ode.
"She has worked with us since the early days of our journey into the US, so she knows who we are and what we stand for. She shares our passion for quality and our belief that cod deserves a place among the world's great premium seafood. I'm genuinely thrilled to have her on the team, and I can't wait to see Ode Cod on plates across the Americas."
